<p>has anyone gone abroad over the summer with one of those exchange programs or to study at a university or something? i'm wondering what to do this summer and i'd like some input.</p>
<p>i went to sya (school year abroad/summer year abroad) china for the summer and it was probably one of the most amazing experiences i've had. i stayed with a host family (big part of the experience as opposed to staying at a university dorm) and took rigorous courses in chinese but the program also took us to visit popular tourist sites and landmarks (ex. great wall, forbidden palace, xi-an city wall etc.).</p>
<p>i highly recommend it esp. if you're into learning a new language/culture</p>
