Hey guys. I'm finishing up my freshman year right now and I've been doing pretty well in all of my classes. I have a4.0 GPA right now and finished Physics 1. And I'm currently in Chem 1 (loving the class and doing great) Physics 2 (might get a B+ but we'll see).

But my question isn't about academics. It's about summer. I recently got a new minimum wage job at a fast food restaurant and plan to work about 25-30 hrs/week over the summer. Will this, along with continuing some of my hobbies, satisfy dental schools? It's not like my family is poor and I am forced to work to support them, but I have to work for my personal spending money (which I really would like more of). I know they want to see some shadowing/research before going to dental school, but would it kill me if I put that off for a year. I actually really want to research but since my classes have been over 300 kids per class so far it's been hard to find a professor that I can research with. I've also seen pre-dental programs offered by some colleges but most are expensive and I think I'd rather research OR shadow than do those, personally.

What do you guys think? Should I skip the fast food job and focus only on getting more dental related experience or could this be an okay thing to do?
