What is the best way to spend the summer after the first year of college for a business / engineering major? Should I try to get an internship or do some sort of research or should I just use this summer to relax? In a way, I feel like I should do the latter since I will likely be filling my next few summers with all of the others, but I still want to be productive.

It would be helpful if you guys could share your experiences and ideas :)

An internship is always great, but from what I’ve heard, they usually go to sophomores and juniors. I’m in the same boat as you and I plan on looking for a part time summer job. If your college allows it, why not take some summer classes at a community college (if you’re not already in one)?

there are some really good resources for summer internships out there, for school credit for underclassmen… InternJump, InternMatch etc
doesn’t hurt to look
