Hello,
I am an incoming freshman, and I am trying to find out if I have summer homework. Do any current/former/incoming students or parents know where I could find this information?
Thanks!

No classes have summer homework; it’s college. Also, the commons reading is completely optional, and the majority of people I know did not even read it.
@stocknessmonster : Some colleges actually do have departments or courses that have placement tests or required preparation material (which probably should not be slept on as making enrollment decisions is much easier/less competitive or may be tied to your grade. My alma mater has a “chemistry prep” program because course is taught assuming students know an okay level of chem already. It is adaptive and some students will get more prep work than others. If they cannot complete on time, they start at a 97 in the course), however if they do, that stuff would be on blackboard or told by the department/course directors hosting it.
There may also be orientation related activities (that are quasi-academic in nature) that students are supposed to complete online. Depends on the college. Some will assign things that are supposed to be done before coming to campus or things just get a lot rougher otherwise. It also isn’t atypical for competitive types at these schools to try to gain access to course information so that they can “get ahead” if possible.
@yushki : You are unlikely to have true “work”. However, if you plan to take a language, math, or something, go to those departments that you will enroll in and check and see if they have placement exams. Do take/complete them if they have them and you have not completed them. It may make your life easier. Otherwise, I imagine things for specific courses, which are unlikely at this point, will be posted to the course website associated with it. I guess VU uses blackboard and if you at least want to know about courses in advanced look there. Most instructors will likely not have those up until the beginning of the academic year though.
@yushki My daughter is entering as a Vandy Freshman as well (Peabody School-dual major Chemistry/2ndary Ed). In addition to the Commons Visions book (that you should have received via mail - the Pursuit of Happiness), she has also had some Chemistry Prep lessons. Like @bernie12 said there was a pre-Chemistry ‘assessment’ and it gave her some areas that she needed to review before class; she had like 10 simple review lessons to go over before arriving. She said it was very helpful!
There were also language placement ‘tests’, but you would have been directed to those when you were registering.
ALSO she just got an email about some mandatory modules for “Be Smart, Be Safe” - there are 4 (I think) on-line that you go through with regards to campus safety, alcohol, sexual assault and then one for her to do in order to teach children. These are for ALL incoming students (except the last one!)
She has not heard about anything else but it will also depend on your major.
Anchor Down! Maybe we’ll run into you at Move-In Day!
