Hey. Does anyone know anything about the Center for Africana Studies Summer Institute for Pre-Freshman? I got a post-card and it sounded interesting.

yea i got that postcard too. i dunno, i might end up going if i can get off work for that week

I attended the Africana Studies Summer Institute last year and everyone who has time this summer should definitely go. Briefly, the program consists of two seminar classes taught by university professors. Homework is assigned, but it doesn't count for anything. Still, make an effort though, you can make a lasting impression on one of your professors. Since the vast majority of participants are black, I would urge all black students to attend, not only to meet other like-minded students, but to make connections with black professors that will help you throughout your undergraduate career. Still, it is incredibly social, so by no means were students of other ethnicities excluded. Basically, if you attend, you will get to know other students and the campus about a month and a half before everyone else. Also, if you are an Africana Studies major like me, I can't say how amazing a resource this program is. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Is anyone else having trouble with the links on this site? Or is it just my computer?
