I saw a post regarding Summer intensive programs under the Musical Theatre forum, so I wanted to start a similar one under the Acting Track.
I highly recommend a program in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Summer University Theatre Experience - San Francisco - June 2017
Two Tracks - MT and Acting
Faculty from CMU, Michigan, Texas State, Syracuse, USC, UCLA, Otterbein, Rutgers, Hartt and Chapman.
My Daughter participated in this program last year as an incoming Senior, and she felt absolutely prepared her for all her college auditions. As a plus, it was wonderful for her to re-unite with her “SUTE” classmates during Unified Auditions.
My D did two separate programs this summer that were both excellent. She is very interested in classics and loves combat. The first was at UNCSA- the national stage combat workshop. It may be moving to a different location next year, but it was a three week introduction to 8 disciplines of stage combat, taught by fightmasters and advanced instructors with the Society of American Fight Directors. She absolutely loved it, and she hopes to go back for more actor combatant training in the years to come. This is an excellent program that teaches sword-fighting, hand to hand, knife, etc… in a safe way.
The second program was the Theatre Performance intensive at the Stratford Festival in Stratford, Ontario. This was another three week intensive that involved learning classical acting techniques and text analysis. The kids worked with a professional director and also saw ten different productions while they were there. The facilities are spectacular. The town of Stratford is just lovely. They produce some of the highest quality work in North America. Stratford has a Shakespeare school offering the Theatre performance intensive as an auditioned based program, but also has musical theatre courses and acting courses that do not require an audition. My D learned so much. This was such a valuable experience. I highly recommend it!
South Coast Rep Acting Intensive 7 week program. My daughter attended and loved it. You must audition for this one.
Located in Southern California. Run by Matthew Arkin, Alan Arkin’s son.
