definite plans
-EAST COAST TRIP
40 students at my school were accepted into this trip. i live in california and that will be my first time going to EC :D
-CTY @ JHU (BALTIMORE), YOUTH AND SOCIETY: SERVICE LEARNING
basically community service and learning about current civil right issues. i'm definitely not doing this for a resume; i loooove learning about human rights and community service. i'm also traveling alone, and have to take two flights to get there (sf -> atlanta -> baltimore)
-POTTERY CLASSES
this will be my third year taking pottery classes during the summer. it's sooooo relaxing/calming and i love artsy stuff!
-SWIMMING
i plan to keep "training" myself over the summer (currently swimming every other day) and join the swim team at bs.
-RUNNING
i also plan on doing x-c in the fall.

maybe...
-VOLUNTEERING AT PUBLIC LIBRARY
it's 15 min. riding my bike from my house and i go there ALL the time, so i know where everything goes. i'm not sure if spaces are open though :/
-WORKING
i know that it's obscure but i really want/need to work. i didnt apply for FA because my parents were sure that we wouldn't get it (just looking at the income, not the expenses for my autistic sister); however, i plan on trying to get scholarships and work for the next three years. if i do get a paying job, i'm most likely working at oliver's market (supermarket) near my house, also 15 min. away from my house by bike.

OMG!! My daughter was just offered a position on a crew for the Student Conservation Association in.....ALASKA!!! I am beyond thrilled for her! She will be working on a crew of 6 kids at Denali National Park. It looks like the most beautiful place in North America---Mount McKinley, North America's highest mountain, 6 MILLION acres of land, the Denali Dog Sled Kennels, tons of wildlife. This will be a lifechanging trip. I am so happy for her and a bit envious!

Congratulations to your D!
I'm excited for her! (And I've never met the girl.)

Thank you Dazzle! I think I am as excited as she is. This national park is bigger than Massachusets!

congrats!!!! My son will also be doing SCA -- but his location is not quite as exciting as Denali. I will pm you for all the details later!
