Hi, My DS is slowly expressing interest in focusing in the Public Health field. He is good with biology and math so we mentioned the possibility of also exploring Biostats. He is a sophomore in TX. Would you have any suggestions for a summer program where he could explore this option? I will eventually suggest him to open an account here and ask his own questions but don’t want him getting stressed out about the college process as of yet. Any suggestions near TX or outside are appreciated.
There is a summer program forum here, FYI - harder to find since the site was redesigned.

That said, there are several. Some cost a fair bit of $, some are free or pay the student, some are aimed at certain populations (URM, women, residents of a certain state, whatever).
Have you tried a general search on “summer research bio-statistics” or similar? I had a long list of programs but these would be out of date now, D is already done with college.
For exploration, Summer@Brown offers some classes in Biostat and other PH topics. My D found a calling there, at age 14 Some 2020 courses with a Public Health and Mat/CS filter: https://precollege.brown.edu/catalog/?p=1&t%5B%5D=51&t%5B%5D=13
The NIH also offers s summer internship for high school students interested in STEM fields…

Most of the program sites are the Washington DC area (DC, Maryland, northern VA), but there are some sites in other areas of the country.
