I'm a junior in HS this year, and I was wondering if anyone knows about any summer programs that do not require recommendation or reference letters? I think that applying to so many programs (MITES/RSI/TASP/Clark Scholars/Gov School) really puts a strain on my teachers.

Anyway, I'd prefer some science program, paid or unpaid is fine. If none turn up, I guess i'm going to email some local professors and see if I can do research for them...anyone know what to say in the email, or has done this kind of thing before?

I’m applying to 7 summer programs and have asked 4 of my teachers to write rec letters for them (two teachers’ letters are only going to be sent to one place though). Each of them are just going to write one letter to send to different places. They will have to tweak them for the specific guidelines, but many of the guidelines/forms are similar. So even though it’s complicated, as long as you spell out the details/info on where they send each one, etc. it should be fine. And they should be happy to help you as long as you have good relationships with them. Good luck!
