Does anyone know what the summer reading for the incoming class is?

"As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as A Girl."
by John Colapinto

so do we just discuss the book in groups, or do they test us over it? and if they did test us, how would they even give us a grade for it?

Hahah so stressed out. Just read it and understand it, and i believe you just talk about it in groups.

There will be a faculty lecture by Professor Rachel Levin on the book on Sunday night, August 28, at 6:30 p.m., followed by seminars from 7:45 to 9 p.m.

Thanks Kosuke. That's pretty cool that's the book you all are reading. Maybe I'll try to read it before I get back since I'll be doing my fair share or interacting with the first-years. If you read it through once, you'll be fine. People the past few years have gotten by without reading it all, but I don't recommend doing that.

So there's no test or essay? Another student of Pomona posted that there would be an exam.

I have a penchant for sarcasm; twas I who instilled unnecessary fear into the hearts of first-years. Rest assured there is no formal accountability for the book.

Cruellll, I'm sure someone read it 3 times already because of you. Although the book is good enough that reading it three times over wouldn't be a problem.

yeah...i read that on myspace, although i dont post on there, and thats why i asked. honestly, i really didnt believe it from the beginning, how would they assign grades to students all taking different classes over a book that was just up for discussion on one day? i guess they could have made it 25% of the inquiry seminar classes, but that would be stupid. i felt bad because a lot of them seemed to believe it, without even questioning...
