I’m going to ECU and still have not received my packet… What about you guys?
Hey guys, I’m an Hispanic from Raleigh! I got into the ASU one. I’m really hoping to do well at this program and plan on doing my best (hoping to get the Catalyst Award). I have rejected a program at MIT for Summer Ventures and I just hope it was worth it. Nonetheless, I like NC and hope to attend NC State as a Park Scholar. Do any of you guys know how much work it is? How many people will attend? How fun it actually is? Anybody want to talk? Is there a Facebook group for this? Wanna follow me on insta? lol

They say that they rarely assign homework, and your research project technically is pretty much your only homework assignment. I’m not sure how many attend, but the people who go generally say it’s fun. There isn’t a Facebook group or anything (that I know of at least), so we all just talk on here!
The ECU packets were mailed out yesterday!
Can anyone explain the difference between the schools? I live in Raleigh and ASU is very far. UNCC and ECU would have been so much better for me, but I was wondering if there’s an actual difference.
I live around where you live. ASU is pretty far away, but they place you in a campus based off what classes the college offers that year (they look at the subjects/topics you ranked in your application).
Would you guys mind elaborating more on the research project? I’m not trying to stress put, but would like to take it serious. thanks nightsky98
@cler1010 I think it is determined by what classes you take and what interests you have, but check on the summer ventures website for your campus( ecu, asu, or uncc)
@cler1010 No problem! I don’t know much about the entire project, but I do know that we have write a formal paper and present at the end of the summer to our professors (and parents?? I’m not sure). The topic is based off of what classes you take there and what you want to do with what you learned.
According to ECU’s Summer Ventures website “An important aspect of Summer Ventures is research. Therefore, students will take classes for the first two weeks, and then will be assigned to one of their courses in which they will carry out a research project. Working alone or with a partner, they will carry out hands-on, research on the topic for approximately two weeks. The students will prepare a paper that is the culminating product of the research. They will then give an oral presentation of their research paper on the final day of Summer Ventures to their fellow students, staff and parents and friends. Presentations are judged by an outside panel of experts and the top presentations are our Catalyst award winners”
I’m going to ECU! I really want to get to know the people who are going to ECU

I just sent in all my forms (including the class request one) today! I think they notify the people going to ASU of their class assignments in mid-May.
Hey! I got into Summer Ventures and was assigned to ASU. Has anyone received an email about class assignments yet?
