I know my grades are average but i think if i can boost them up or at least my sats/acts i could get into a few of them
I am very worried because of my sophomore regents grades

****** I Haven't decided My major yet but all of the schools have at least one that i am thinking of*******
Nursing
Occupational therapy
Teaching
forensics

Tough to say with only two years of grades and no SAT/ACT, but based off of all that, I’d say you’ll probably get into almost all of them, although Binghamton may be the highest shot depending on what your grades/test scores end up being. If you do end up deciding to go into Occupational Therapy, Ithaca College has a great OT program and would be the best one out of your list to attend.

1° universities won’t care about your Regents grades. However, they may indicate you attend a low-performing schools where an A is easily reached. Make sure you ask what the national exam results are for AP and IB classes.
2° are you taking American Sign Language for a foreign/world language? Because some universities may not recognize it as a world language. However Spanish at IB level (which you’ve got listed for junior year) in addition to American Sign Language, would be rather impressive.
3° is 1760 your sophomore result? In that case, prepare very well between now and October, when the PSAT will be given at your school.
4° if you want to go into forensics, nursing, or OT, you should try to take Biology and chemistry plus AP bio AND if possible AP Chem. Ap Bio junior year, AP chem senior year?
5° Why James Madison? It’s a public university out of state, you’d have to pay the OOS premium AND wouldn’t qualify for financial aid (since it’s for in-state applicants whose parents paid taxes to subsidize the university).
6° Ithaca would be a good choice; check out the following universities, which are all either matches or safeties:
Chatham (in Pittsburgh), Duquesne (in Pittsburgh), York of Pennsylvania, Gannon, Eastern, Mercyhurst, Moravian, Juniata, UScranton, Adelphi, Ithaca, Hartwick, Elmira, Lemoyne, Nazareth, Molloy, Monmouth, Wagner.
7° Among SUNY’s, you have a good selection. Include Geneseo (who knows? It’s a high reach but…) and add Oswego or Oneonta, perhaps include CUNY Staten Island (if you want to live 30mn from NYC…) Binghamton is a high reach too but New Paltz is a match and Plattsburgh is a safety.

Looking back at this post I realize my eyes completely jumped over your SAT/ACT scores, so disregard part of my previous comment. Your ACT score is actually very good and should get you into most of the colleges listed. Again, I’m going to say Binghamton will be the hardest to get into, but it’s definitely worth applying.

Hmm, difficult to judge, your ACT score is helping, A LOT…

My best guess (but don’t let me stop you!)
SUNY New Paltz: target
Suny Buffalo university: target
SUNY Binghamton: reach
SUNY Plattsburgh: target
don’t know the other two
Good Luck!

^For reference, Plattsburgh would be a target school for someone with a 22-24 ACT. Anyone with a 31 as a sophomore has it as a safety. :)

Note: if you can bring that ACT score to 32, you’d access lots of scholarships. That 1-point difference could literally mean thousands of dollars.

Thanks for everyones input!

So…
- yes i forgot to write i am taking both Spanish IB and ASL this year and next year
- My school does not offer AP
- I took Bio in 8th grade and Chem in 10th grade so i can’t take them again anyway, Sports medicine is an IB course and include basically anatomy and physiology
- Binghamton is a huge reach for me, i most likely cannot afford Ithaca even with a bunch of scholarships whig i most likely won’t get anyway

Thank you for replying everyone i appreciate it a lot!!!

^For each college listed above, run the Net Price Calculator - if you can’t find it on the website, type the name of the college + Net Price Calculator, you’ll get the right page. Those are typically fairly accurate wrt how much they’ll expect your family to pay, unless your parents own a small business.
Fiancial aid and scholarships come first from the college you attend, second from the government (Federal, State). Private sources tend to be a very small amount and just for your first year.
