SUNY Oswego vs. SUNY Geneseo

I'm considering transferring from Oswego to Geneseo. I plan on majoring in accounting. I'm thinking about transferring because Geneseo seems to have a better reputation than Oswego, the town of Geneseo is more appealing, and it is slightly closer to home. My boyfriend goes to Geneseo, though, so I'm afraid I wouldn't have enough of my own space. I also feel like it might be harder to adjust with him there, even though theres about 5,000 students. In addition, Geneseo doesn't have very many options if I decided to ever change my major. Oswego really isn't that bad, I just like the town of Geneseo a little better but I don't want to go if it isn't worth it. I really am stuck in between the two schools.

Can someone give me some advice on what to do? Should I stay at Oswego even if I'm not extremely fond of the town because they have a lot of options within my major? Will it help my future at all if I choose to go to a "better" school? If anyone has any info. about Geneseo's business school I would love to hear it. Any advice is appreciated!

anyone!?

You’re in college to learn, so I don’t think it would be helpful to enroll in a school that has limited options if you decide to switch majors.

Geneseo is NYS’s Honors College. It stands to reason that the general academic environment would be better. Check to see if their business school is AACSB accredited. It doesn’t make a huge difference but …

Geneseo is definitely a “better” school than Oswego as far as rankings, prestige, and reputation. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that you’d be with your boyfriend (but I’m biased because I’m with my boyfriend and love it) as long as you spend your first few weeks making new friends and not being so dependent on him- after all, he already has his group, I’m assuming. Have you visited Geneseo? I personally found it to be waay too rural of a town but it’s not like Oswego is exactly NYC either.
