I will be a transfer student to Boston College this fall and I am scared out of my mind. I made some friends at orientation but I am not sure if they will solidify this fall. I also just found out that I will be living in Walsh Hall (a residence hall that is notorious for partying). I am not much of a party animal so this def puts me off. Also, the three other people that I was assigned to room with all seem like they know each other and are friends. I feel like I am just some random that is interrupting their friend group. I sent my roommate an email about an hour ago with my cell number attached and introduced myself. I havent heard from her yet. I also missed the boat on this event called “Halftime” which occurs a few days before the official move in. It seems like a lot of the people I met at orientation are doing it and now it is currently full. I’m so terrified that I made a mistake by transferring and am envisioning myself friendless in the fall and failing miserably. Any advice right now would be great because I’m feeling pretty hopeless and scared.
Hi! I’m a girl going into my sophomore year at BC and would love to get to know you! IDK how to share info safely on this site, but here I am!! We can agree to meet on campus maybe?
Oh! I figured out a way! In the BC gmail, if you search “Samantha St,” I’m the only one with a profile picture! Email me and we can talk if you are interested?
Thank you for your response. It made me feel better. I would love to reach out to you!
Just be positive, be friendly, be yourself and breathe. You can do this! You’ll be great! Believe in yourself.
P.S. Everyone else is nervous too. Even those who aren’t transfers.
Bc dorm notorious for partying? That just sounds a bit funny based on my experience. I really wouldn’t worry about that. Yes people will find a to have good time. It’s a bunch of young people in one place.
Walsh is massive, and one of the largest dorms on campus, and full of Sophomores. You should easily be able to find your people there.
Half-time is designed to be small to foster discussion, so few people can attend.
pro tip: Walsh is nearby the stadium, so studying in your room on game days can be an issue for those facing the campus. OTOH, the library is wide-open.
