Superb Colleges

As much as I'd hate to admit it, a large majority of the student population has only heard of a small number of colleges. Many superb colleges are considered second tier because most people have not heard of them. Even though people shouldn't, many place the prestige and reputation of a school over its quality.

So I thought that someone could make a thread where everyone could mention a superb college that most people do not know of and hopefully increase its familiarity with students on this site. I guess most of the ones that will be brought up are small liberal arts colleges because people don't really know about those.

I'll start.

Claremont McKenna College
Carleton College

Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Stanford

Hampshire, Wells, Swarthmore, Sarah Lawrence, St. Lawrence....

Reed is a superb college that I wish I had looked into as a senior.
A friend of mine at Grinnell is also in love with his school.

Certainly a different college experience from that of a conventional university.

Pepperdine, Santa Clara, Furman, Rollins, UDelaware

bovine university

I think the Claremont Colleges should combine to form a single university, thereby improving its reputation and increasing the number of applicants. Like Harvard, which has a undergrad school, law school, etc, Claremont Colleges should also do this. Claremont University would be very cool.

Tufts, Brandeis
