I just recently became acquainted with superscoring. Is it a reality that everybody knows about but nobody talks about? Are there any colleges that don't do this? When colleges report their 50% ranges are they reporting the superscores or the single sittings?

i’m pretty sure they are reporting the superscores. ive also heard that the reason they superscore is so that they can report higher middle 50% ranges

Most (but not all) private universities superscore (take highest section scores from multiple tests); most (but not all) public universities do not but instead use that test with highest composite. They report middle 50% ranges based on method used; however, middle 50% ranges are usually reported for those who accept admission and enroll which is a lot fewer than those actually admitted and for many colleges not in your high ranks, the enrolled middle 50% range can be lower than the admitted 50% range (i.e., many high stat applicants admitted go elsewhere)
