I'm writing my essay on what specific qualities attracted me to the school I'm applying to, which says it has a 500 word maximum. I've written about 250 words and really can't think of a way to go on that would improve it. Do you think that's acceptable? I'm asking especially because the other question says it should be approximately 250 words, while this one only says it shouldn't be over 500. Of course, I don't want to have it look like I didn't put any effort in, but I don't want to fill it up with word cruft either. What do you think?

I have a friend who wrote 200 and got in, while I wrote ~600 and got in. They give that limit so that they’re not receiving 1,200 word novels. Quality is more important than length. The ability to be concise is a good talent.
