I opted for the “what’s something else you want to learn outside of your intended academic focus” prompt, and I talked about a conversation I had in Spanish that ultimately made me want to continue learning it. Problem is, my major is Political Science, and USC apparently requires that you take 3 semesters of a foreign language as part of their polysci program. Does this mean its technically part of my “academic focus”, and I can’t use this essay?
It’s not a Political Science class, so it can still be written about. However, I would choose something that would be a possible minor or just a topic that’s available as a GE class that you’re really interested in. Since most people at school take a foreign language, it’s not that unique.
