Is anyone else finding the Arts & Sciences/ILR supplement essay incredibly dry and boring to write? I felt like the Common App personal essay was so much more interesting and truly representative of who I am as an individual.

For the supplement essay, it's just incredibly difficult to reflect on your intellectual interests and their evolution without seeming kinda primitive (when I was five, I wanted to be a doctor...).

I say tell a story! Talk about what event lead to your interests. You saw a doctor’s swift dexterity as he switched your grandfather’s failing heart with a functioning one. As your eyes widened, you realized you wanted to save lives as well! Sometime like that with vivid imagery and description. Any essay topic can be dry and boring if you let it :)

The doctor part was just an example, but I get what you’re sayin!

I think I’m gonna incorporate my childhood dreams of being a Tour de France winner and fighter pilot into how I’m currently an Ironman triathlete and Private Pilot…and then use my current aspiration of becoming an attorney will be made reality via ILR @ Cornell…
