supplement materials - art portfolio

I want to submit an art portfolio but does it have to be professional? I usually just do it for fun in my art classes. What do adcoms look for? Also I'm not exactly looking to major in art. I want colleges to notice my passion for art.

sending in an art portfolio used to involve taking slides of your work and submitting a slide sheet...at least, that's what i did two years ago (i had all the stuff anyway from taking the ap art exam). but i'm pretty sure you can just submit a cd of digital images of your work. obviously you'd get the best answer by calling the school/art department and asking, though.

Spazzatatck :), excellent that you are thinking a bit ahead. Emizzly is correct.
You will need to submit usually in slide format or CD.

If you have narrowed down your list of colleges to say 7-10 or so...check out
their art portfolio requirements - common app art supplement or their
own? Read the directions immediately and prepare your portfolio as early as possible.

The Art supplement can majorly enhance your application. My major pursuit
is engineering however I was helped tremendously due to
submission of art supplement forms for the 5 colleges I narrowed down to
for the current year.

I actually customized my submission for each college, for example more
contemporary for Princeton, more classical for Stanford etc.

Also do check out the NFAA competition for next year
(registration usually starts in June for the Arts Scholars) it can be a great help.
