Supplement Optional Essay

Thanks for clearing that up sourpunch!

To candylady: I was ready to submit my application without the supplementary essay, but the night before my guidance counselor wanted all early apps in, I was struck by inspiration and scribbled a ~350 word poem in about 10 minutes. It was one of those pieces that just comes pouring out, you know? I was reluctant to send it along but many people I showed the poem to said it was "so me" so I decided to send it. My poem shows a part of my personality that is not addressed in the other short answer/essay sections, and that some might consider "minor" for college apps (has nothing to do with academics or extracurriculars or family or anything), but I figured it couldn't hurt.... and it showed who I am (which is the point of these applications, yeah?). Sorry that was long-winded. Write about something that you genuinely care about.. even if you think it might be cliched. My guidance counselor said that sometimes the best essays are the ones that come from the heart.. as trite as that might sound.
