for the supplement, is it better to do the optional essays or not?

hrhcow,

the optional essays are a great way to show off your personality or convey something that wasn't shown through the regular app alone. so, they aren't a bad idea. but if you feel as if you've shown harvard everything about you as an applicant and a person, then don't bother yourself with the optional essays. but if there is any little aspect of you, anything at all, then maybe the essays are a good idea. i personally didn't do them (out of laziness-not a good thing), but everyone i talk to here, did them. so, you can go either way.

hope that helps,
hotpiece

Hey I didn't do them and I got in early so if you want to tell them something important, do it. Otherwise, it's not going to hurt you if you don't.

EA admit here - rather than a supp essay, I made a list of books I had read for pleasure in the last twelve months.
