Supplemental Recommendations

Does Carnegie Mellon accept supplemental recommendation letters? Not from a teacher, but from a research mentor, boss, etc. If so, what would be the preferred format? I am applying to the School of Computer Science.

yes, but I don't remember the format.

My son just gave his two writer's the address of the admissions office, they wrote the letters on their own letterhead. We did take the precaution of asking the letter writers to include his social security number and full name as well as his nickname. (He got into SCS and I feel sure the letters were helpful - I saw one of them later when we had to send it out for a scholarship application.)

mathmom,

I am in the same boat now. To which address the supplemental recommendation letters to be sent? Is the following address correct?

Office of Undergraduate Admission
Carnegie Mellon University
5000 Forbes Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3890

It was a while ago, but I believe that was the address - it was the same address all the other parts of the application were sent to. (Although his part went electronically - teacher and school parts were snail-mailed.)
