"A poet is, above all else, passionately in love with language." --W.H. Auden

I basically disected it and wrote a poem with various layers of meaning connected to the quotation, most prominently about language and constructing poetry. I reaaaaaaaally hope that they get it, because if they don't I am completely, utterly screwed. But I figured it's a long shot anyway, so WHY NOT. :P

Mr. Tubbz -- interesting point. May I ask what you think of the children's book "The Rainbow Fish"? If you haven't read it, take a look on Amazon...

Someone I know got in using, "Less is more." as the entire essay. He was accepted. Of course, his credentials and other essays were quite impressive.

Buddhist tradition attributes their "Four Noble Truths" to Siddhartha Gautama [the Buddhitsava]. I used part of it:
"In all life there is suffering, and all suffering is caused by attachment."
I would have dearly liked Paseur's enthusiasm quote, but unfortunately it did not shape me so the Buddhist one is much more "me-ish."

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way things I had no words for. Georgia OKeefe (1887-1986), American artist
