Supplementary Essay - What quote did you use?

"A poet is, above all else, passionately in love with language." --W.H. Auden

I basically disected it and wrote a poem with various layers of meaning connected to the quotation, most prominently about language and constructing poetry. I reaaaaaaaally hope that they get it, because if they don't I am completely, utterly screwed. But I figured it's a long shot anyway, so WHY NOT. :P

"All your base are belong to us."

honestly.

" There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so others won't feel insecure around you."

I love it, vadox! If you don't mind sharing, what was the overall theme of your essay?

Mr. Tubbz -- interesting point. May I ask what you think of the children's book "The Rainbow Fish"? If you haven't read it, take a look on Amazon...

vadox you're my hero

Someone I know got in using, "Less is more." as the entire essay. He was accepted. Of course, his credentials and other essays were quite impressive.

Buddhist tradition attributes their "Four Noble Truths" to Siddhartha Gautama [the Buddhitsava]. I used part of it:
"In all life there is suffering, and all suffering is caused by attachment."
I would have dearly liked Paseur's enthusiasm quote, but unfortunately it did not shape me so the Buddhist one is much more "me-ish."

"Everything is relative"
-Chapo.

pd: chapo is my classmate :-)

"would you believe it ariadne? the minotaur scarcely defended itself"
Borges =)

I did the Nation's Service one...pretty traditional essay, since my other one is the groundbreaking "hook" one.

Essay about how my two favorite activities (which are very different) are actually very similar in my mind.

"The happiness of being with people." - Franz Kafka

It is simple, resonant, and existential :)

But I also related to Princeton's "in the nation's service" to my essay topic.

“There is only one cure for gray hair. It was invented by a Frenchman. It is called the
guillotine.”
-P.G. Wodehouse

I wrote on my prematurely gray hair.

Are you contemplating suicide, or something grander like...martyrdom? ;)

Mr. Tubbz: I love that quote! What did you write about?

“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way – things I had no words for.” Georgia O’Keefe (1887-1986), American artist

I wrote about how I used to be conformist as a child until I heard those words.
