Supplementary Recommendation

I would like to submit a supplementary recommendation to my schools. This rec. would be from someone I worked under within an internship that is a fairly large part of my application – my common app essay is centered around it. Further, I know it’ll be a great rec. that describes me as “one of the most X students” with anecdotes (my others will have anecdotes, but likely not that phrase, ‘one of the best’).

However, these schools’ warnings on extra recommendations make me wary of sending one. Could even a good recommendation hurt your chances at schools that dislike additional information? (Stanford, Columbia come to mind).

This is the only other additional information I sent:

  1. A resume if there was room on the application for one. If not, a list of patents/publications and languages I speak in the addit'l info section.
  2. Dartmouth - peer recommendation
  3. Mid-February update with Intel STS status (and I'll take the opportunity to include any other, smaller awards at that time).

**Should I send this extra recommendation?/b

Is it O.K. that I have yet to send it - if I fax it by January 12th, would they take it into consideration?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

ETA:

I applied early to Princeton and was deferred. Should I send them this extra recommendation in February along with m update?
