I just have a quick question about the “what course would you teach at Yale” question. Do they want you to reply seriously? I don’t view myself as an expert of anything (or at least enough to teach a Yale course) so I replied in a funny manner, kind of making fun of myself for not being able to do something. Would that be looked down upon, or was it not intended in its literal meaning?
Also any tips for the 100 word why Yale question would be appreciated.
Just answer honestly and in your voice. If the question made you think of funny replies, so be it. I think 99% of applicants are not yet prepared to teach any courses, and the AOs know that. Relax. They just want to see who you are.
Good luck.
@IxnayBob thank you! I just didn’t want to misinterpret the question.
Some students answer the why Yale question literally… why they want to go to Yale. Others do something like “a day in my life at Yale” storyline. Others even write a freestyle poem explaining why they like a certain thing about Yale.
