Swine flu is an overhyped scare. It broke out in 1976, and only one person ended up dying from it.

You also have to remember that all of the deaths so far have been in Mexico, a country which has a poor healthcare system and poor living conditions.

Masks can help but it depends on the type of masks. They all have holes(can’t see them). some holes are bigger than others. The smaller holes have better filter. It really is important to wash your hands.

Bah. I’m in Texas, and schools all around mine are freaking out and closing over it. Truth is, there have only been EIGHT confirmed deaths. Most cases in the US just look like a normal flu. There’s really nothing to be scared of at all. Wash your hands, don’t let people cough on you, if you have a 100+ fever consider going to the doctor. You’ll be fine.

So, I turned on the news this morning: Swine Flu! I turn on the radio on the drive to school: Swine Flu! I go to chemistry: Swine Flu!

I must say, this is way over hyped.

I haven’t looked into the deaths from this flu in Mexico (which as Pyroza mentions doesn’t have the best medical care), but the only person who has died in America from it was a toddler. Of course younger children and seniors are more prone to serious problems when it comes to the flu. Not to mention, I went on the CDC website and it doesn’t sound like it’s that much worse then the stomach flu I had back in 2007.
