@ragueneau i think being from so close to the school didnt help with geographic diversity. so many other great small LAC out there will be lucky to get you. good luck in the RD pool.
Got rejected too… @ragueneau LOL
solid rejection here
signing off from this site but hoping all find other amazing schools that love them back. There are so many amazing small LAC . Son is not giving up hope being deferred but told him he needs to move on and start falling in love with other schools and YES finish those other supplementals over break.
In. But – and I’m not just saying this because I’m all cheerful – there are five or six other schools I looked at closely and visited that would be really, really incredible places… and I feel like I would have just as great an education at. I hope all of you get in one of those… they each have their admissions quirks, and clearly many you were caught out by a quirk of Swarthmore admissions rather than something flawed about you. Good luck to you all.
congrat @Goodluckclub. i read your earlier post and you sound like a Swattie!. do you mind sharing the other wonderful school list you were looking at . might be helpful to those on the thread to relook at their list. son deferred and still holding hope for RD but def. looking at other small LAC in case.
Will PM you on it.
My s got in …yeah he’s so excited!
update S just got in after being deferred in the ED 1 round. for those looking at the thread next year its def. possible. really not sure what he will do now. He also got in RD to bowdoin, pomona, Middlebury and Wash u. and kenyon. LOL rejected to haverford.
for those looking at thread next year he chose Pomona but it was a very difficult decision in the end with both Swarthmore and Pomona offering so much he really couldn’t go wrong with either choice.
To those that look at this thread in the future definitely possible to get in RD after being deferred in the ED round and he had NO hooks.(was not a minority, athlete, legacy)
Make sure to keep up your grades through third quarter, continue to communicate your interest with your regional admission rep, send in any updates, etc. Definitely don’t get discouraged. If anything not getting in ED showed my S just how desirable he was in the admissions decisions of other top LAC.
