<p>Interestingly, despite the gender imbalance in colleges in favor of females, the All-USA First Team consists of 13 males and 7 females.</p>

<p>DS was on a winning HS academic team. He said it was a lot about being competitive. To be competitive contestants often have to buzz in before they are sure of the answer or if they know the answer. Daring plays as big a part as knowledge.</p>

<p>To clarify, this has nothing to do with quiz bowl. It is a fellowship-like award that he was awarded based on essays, his grades, etc.</p>
