Swedish Student (International)

ECs:
Started and running my own business
Active in the youth wing of the Swedish Moderate Party (Swedish Young Conservatives)
4 week volunteering trip to South Africa
President of the school's Student Council
Did one year as an exchange student in Australia

(In Sweden there are NO scool clubs, or other EC:s run by school. The only EC in school is the Student Council)

My grades are, if translated, 3.8~ (my guess at least). There is no such things as class rankings in Sweden, unfortunately. I go to a public school, by the way, since there are no private schools in Sweden, either.

I have not yet taken the SATs and the ACT. What do you reckon I would need to acquire to have a shot at getting in to an Ivy League school? Or shall I just give up now? I'll be able to get into Stockholm School of Economics (ranked fairly high in FT:s anually ranking), because of the Swedish SAT equivalent.

I still have 1,5 yrs left in school, though, so is there anything you recommend me doing to improve my chances at getting into an Ivy League school?

Thanks a lot for your help.

It seems that you intend to major in economics or business. For Ivy, you need everything and yet even everything may not guarantee your way in.

 • SAT scores of about 2200+
 • 3 SAT Subject Tests of 700+
 • TOEFL 110+ (since you’re international, although I’m not quite sure about the minimum scores for individual colleges)
 • rigorous courses
 • strong GPA
 • strong ECs
 • strong essays, etc would increase your probability.
