SBC is one of my top choices but I still have some concerns. I'd love to hear from any SBC students or alumnae on these. :)

1.) What do you think of the Lynchburg/Charlottesville area? Does it get boring or is there enough to do? How are internship and job opportunities locally?

2.) Okay, well, meeting men isn't a top priority for me when it comes to college but I still want the option of dating and such. I hear that Hampden-Sydney is the brother school to SBC but from what I've read, they don't seem like my type of guys at all. Honestly I doubt I'd find my type of guy in abundance in the area (I like feminine, artistic kinda guys usually) but are Hampden-Sydney men basically the only men SBC women interact with regularly?

3.) How involved is the campus? I picture it being a very vibrant campus where the women are involved in several activities and have a zest for both working and having fun. Am I right?

Hi! I’m currently a sophomore at Sweet Briar. I’ll do my best to answer your questions, and if you have any more questions, you can feel free to ask them here :)

I think the Lynchburg area is really nice! There’s a good selection of “basic” stores (Target, Walmart, CVS, etc.). Charlottesville has more upscale stores and just more shopping in general. I don’t get bored in the area. I come from a small rural town though, so I’m not used to city life. I’ve never really explored internships/jobs in the area, but I’m sure your admissions counselor has more information about that, and they would love to talk to you!

Hampden-Sydney is NOT the only school that Sweet Briar women interact with! There are several other colleges in the local Lynchburg area.

I can easily say that it’s more unlikely for students NOT to be involved on campus. Sweet Briar women are the kind of people who want to do everything (and do it all well, too!) Personally, I have two campus jobs and I’m involved in a lot of other extracurriculars and clubs.
