In order to be recruited by, let's say, Stanford, what number would I need to be in their roster of times in order to be recruited? #3, #5, or even farther back? I know it may not be systematical, and they make take other factors into account, however I remain very curious on what you would guess that I would need to be assuming that I am a well-rounded individual with good grades. Additionally, what number on their roster would you think that I would need to be in order to receive an athletic scholarship? Thanks for the clarification!

My daughter was recruited last year as a D1 swimmer. From what we learned, it’s very important to look at the school’s conference meet results. Schools want the swimmer to be able to come in and score at this meet as a freshman. As far as scholarships, it seems if you can place at consolations it’s a certain scholarship amount, be able to score at finals another amount, if your time would send you/place you at NCAA’s another amount.
As far as place on the roster in their events, they can only take a certain amount of swimmers to away meets and the conference meet. Probably safe if they’re number 3 or maybe 4 in their event on the team; otherwise they might be just swimming home meets.
Good luck!
