Swine flu

No confirmed cases in PA yet, but a group of students at Slippery Rock U just returned from student teaching in Mexico and have been told they will not be allowed to participate in this weekend’s graduation ceremonies.

I know this sounds selfish but on top of everything else with this economy. My D had an interview today for a summer job. It’s for an amusement park. I wonder if this flu will affect their hiring and jobs at touristy places.

We live in a tourist type area and unemployment is at 19%. Last year with $4/gallon gas and this year with the swine flu is going to be devistating to the summer economy.

My family has plans for a family reunion vacation in VA this summer. That seems the least of my worries at the moment.

I really hope that my D is able to find some kind of job this summer. I see her slim hopes of a job vanishing with now this swine flu.

Mom IM’d me this morning to share that the CSU in my hometown has a case of Swine Flu.

One of my friends is displaying symptoms…I’ve been begging him to go to the health center to get it checked out, but no luck so far.

To call or not to call that is the question. I don’t want to add to the concern, but I really wonder what they are doing. My D is on those NYC trains and subways all the time. I almost mailed her some bottles of Purell today and a mask and decided to wait. I just hope the colleges are doing something to inform and educate the students . I know this is crunch time and most of them probably don’t have time to read the newspaper and my D never watches TV…
