I'm currently an Economics major and not happy. My school's department is weak, I'm only making B's in the classes, and quickly losing interest in the subject. I've been taking a bunch of English classes over the last two years and found that I'm very good at the subject. The department is great, I enjoy the subject, and have a 4.0 in that area so far.

Would I still be able to get into a top MBA program with an English degree? I'm worried that they might think it's an easy major. I'm also concerned that I won't be able to get jobs in the financial sector with an English degree.

^ if you don't like economics that much you shouldn't study it.

In regards to what admissions committees look at for undergrad, GPA is by far the most important aspect. You can definitely get into a top MBA program with an English degree.

However, you really need to figure out your employment prospects. I personally can not answer that question for you, but I'm sure it will involve a ton of legwork and a lot of bugging and begging to get the job. A finance related internship would obviously be helpful.

It'll really come down to whether or not you can find a good business-related job to hold down for a couple years with an English degree. It's obviously easier as an econ major but I would definitely switch to English if you're unhappy with econ.
