Sya

Has anyone been on SYA? Suze, are you in the house? Would love info about whether the program is worth spending the whole year.

I think (no experience personally) School Year Abroad, sounds soooo awesome!! What I understand about the program is that you can go to Italy, China, France or Spain and stay with a host family there... but the site www.sya.org doesn't give details on the education itself, and where it leads (like universities etc.)

*Also they give out a lot of FA too right?

It's not a surprise that Georgetown is #1. They probably all went to SFS lol.

yeah, i found that like 2 seconds ago...
it also says what colleges the graduates go to: http://www.sya.org/pages/sitepage.cfm?id=116&pagename=College%20Matriculations

With all this info. I can't stop wondering why more people don't apply???

Does anyone know the difference between AB and BC calc.? Why are they called that?

You ruined this girl's beautiful thread about SYA!!!!
Anyway, my school doesn't offer either of these, why does everyone else seem to be in such advanced public schools?? I'm in advanced math/honors math and find it sooooo boring? Doesn't anyone else have a bad math program at their school?

Sorry about that kirmum. I didn't want to start a whole new thread and it seemed like people were replying to this one.

it was a joke Tommeister... honestly I don't think anyone cares. Your sooo polite :)

It must be the way that I was brought up, my llamas always wanted me to have good manners.

your llamas?? ***? anyways, i really meant that you r really nice:).

Since were in the SYA thread, have u considered it? I know you're like 12 and i'm 15(so it's closer for me) but you could do your senior year in Italy, or China etc.

12?????? I'm almost 14. I was raised by llamas in Chile after I was in a plane crash where I was the only survivor.:(

Thanks, I think it would be great to do sya, but a term might be enough. I'm also considering going to college abroad.

14---cool,cool.. I just turned 15, so i still feel 14. I really thought you were in grade seven-part of the reason i believed you were a total genius!
R u serious about the llamas? that's soo sad!! Am i just being gulliable?

SYA rocks! Don't know where to start, it was so incredibly fabulous. I went to China and my best friend went to France. Boy did those guys have fun hanging out in French cafes and clubbing! Kirmum, PM me any specific questions, but yes, your DD should do this!!!

suze, how long di you go there? What grade(s)??
What college did you go to after you finished?

No, you're being gullible--it was actually wolves. I'm the reincarnation of Romulus.

your a total *****!!!
Note: it was actually wolves. I'm the reincarnation of Romulus... that was a really funny thing to say but not about Prep School Admissions so therefore pointless!

How is it pointless? It gives a reason for all my posts on this site and explains my overwhelming desire to create a city.

are you serious? no really, it was pointless...

you never told me how to get my post to say quoate when i quoate someone???

When you want to post something go to "Go advanced" and then go to "vb code" (near the bottom) and it'll tell you somewhere in there.
