Syracuse Interview

My daughter will be interviewing next week at Lubin House in NYC. We were told when we visited this summer, if she was serious about applying, an interview either at the school, or at Lubin House was a good idea. Since we live on LI, we chose Lubin House rather than driving back up to Syracuse. We have no idea what to expect however. Has anyone ever interviewed at Lubin House? Was it just the usual tell us about yourself, do you have any questions interview? Any help is appreciated.

My son had an off-campus interview at Greenberg House in DC in September. The admissions officer (a recent alum) asked some thoughtful questions designed to get to know more about him. (I only remember one at the moment: What's one misconception people have about you?) Thankfully, it was not just an open-ended, "tell us about yourself" conversation, nor was it an opportunity for my S to ask informational questions. I could tell that the interviewer really put him at ease with a combination of serious and lighthearted questions. He felt good about the interview, and it had an unexpected side benefit--the questions gave him some good ideas for his application essays! My advice to your daughter is to relax and be yourself. You'll do fine.

I like it that Syracuse does interviews because it gives students an opportunity to communicate things that don't come across in the application. And if all the admissions officers are like my S's interviewer, they have a great staff.

hi where is Lubin House? We too live in the area so this would be preferable as opposed to driving upstate, which I do not have the time to do,was it arranged through the admissions office?
