Hi, I was just curious what you guys think my chances are for the Bandier Program (Music Industry Major) at Syracuse University.
My GPA is a 3.6 weighted and a 2.8 unweighted (I take a lot of honors and AP classes). My SAT score is a 2030 but I plan on taking the SAT again to boost it a little bit. Haven’t taken the ACT yet.
Extracurriculars include three years of JV Tennis, two years of DECA, and I work at a big online record label as a hobby (label network consists of over 100,000 followers on Soundcloud). I’m also the manager of a DJ/Producer duo online.
Responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
There is no formula, but they definitely value music business experience, which it sounds like you have. While your UW GPA is a bit low, you do take tough classes, and I think Syracuse cares more about weighted anyway. I’d say you have a pretty good shot, but it’s really hard to handicap anyone with over 500 applicants for the 25 spots. I would just play up your experience (and get more over this summer!), and if you visit, try and talk to the VPA admissions people and the head of the program, David Rezak, to show interest. It cannot hurt to be a name they remember when it comes time for admissions. Good luck!
