Syracuse vs. Transfer Option to Cornell

I know this is long but I really need the help,

I was admitted into the dual degree program between the School of Information Studies and Whitman School of Management which sounds like an amazing program that can provide many job opportunities upon graduation (which is my primary concern.)

Cornell has offered me the opportunity to attend another school for my Freshman year (I have chosen Rutgers) before transferring to their university. My Transfer Option (their variation of a guaranteed transfer) is for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences which is a great school, but does not have the same prestige as the rest of the university. Also the major they accepted me to isn;t that great.

I was wondering whether my opportunities after graduation are better if I get a degree in a good program from a less prestigious school, or a mediocre degree from a very prestigious university?

I think that is a good question. I disagree that CALS at Cornell is not highly regarded. I believe the Cornell name is well recognized and carries a lot of weight. I struggle with this for my D who has been accepted to both Cornell and Syracuse. She feels that Syracuse offers a better fit for her socially but is weighing the value of the Cornell name on her degree. I believe she will be successful wherever she ends up but would send her to Cornell if it were my decision. I think that degree will open more doors down the road than one from Syracuse.

CALS graduates are just as highly regarded as other graduates. CALS is a science/ business/ medicine/ agricultural school. Their business is ranked 3rd Agriculture ranked 2nd pre Medicine in top 10, Environmental top 5, and ecology #1 all for undergrad. Lol do some research
