My D just got an email stating she has been waitlisted for the BFA Acting program. Does anyone know if in past years they have gone to the waitlist, and any idea how many people tend to be on it? Thanks!

yeah same here.

bump

Hi i am a syracuse university student. And i am trying to write an article on the wait list process at the university. I was wondering if i could ask you folks a few questions as to how this has effected your child’s or your decision as to what college to attend and how it has effected your options. Please let me know if you have any comments. Thanks

has anyone been waitlisted for acting and then got in?

syracusenews, my s did not apply to Syracuse but he was called off the waitlist (and accepted the offer) at another university. There was an article in the Chicago Tribune about how the admission process has become so much more competitive in general with students applying to so many colleges; universities cannot predict who will actually attend their schools anymore. But everyone from high school counselors, other parents and college admission counselors encourage students to apply to as many colleges as possible.

This is the impact on a student and family—the student picks the most favorable fit college that he/she has been accepted to by May 1st (though it may not be his/her most desirable school), then tries to embrace that school and parents put down money for registration, housing and orientation.

Then, they are accepted off the waitlist at their most desired school and are over the moon and the parents put down MORE money on registration, housing and orientation at the new school (which they may or may not get back from the first school). Of course, that is if they are even accepted off the waitlist early enough to even get housing. At some schools, even if you are accepted in the regular decision process for performing arts, you may be accepted too late to even obtain any housing at some schools.

It is an anxiety producing process (not just for performing arts)
