T. Boone Pickens to Speak at Bama- Oct 18

T. Boone Pickens, the legendary entrepreneur and founder of Mesa Petroleum and United Shareholders Association, will bring his messages about energy and maximizing shareholder value to The University of Alabama.

Pickens will talk about U.S. energy policy at an open forum Monday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. in The Zone at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. The Pickens Plan is aimed at stopping America’s “addiction to foreign oil.” The plan calls for increased use of wind and solar power for power generation, more use of natural gas, energy saving incentives for homeowners and an improved electrical transmission grid. The event is sponsored by the Culverhouse College of Commerce

Talk about the ultimate guest lecturer! My son’s UH Moral Forum class is tackling the issue of whether or not there should be a moratorium on offshore drilling in the wake of the BP disaster. The class will debate the matter in teams of two, with the winners awarded scholarship $$.

That notwithstanding, this is a great opportunity for everyone and another example of the “hidden” curriculum at UA.
