TA Intro Comp Sci in Senior year HS?

I’m posting this in the Brown forum because it is my Daughter’s #1 choice and she’ll probably be applying ED.

She is tossing around the idea of being a TA for Intro to Comp Sci. She likes the teacher, will be taking AP CS next semester, and wants to major in CS in college. She did a CS program this summer and started a technology club for middle school girls this semester, so it fits with her interests.

I’m wondering how Brown admissions will look at a TA “position” senior year- it’s not really a class, but there will be some sort of associated project. She really wants to do it because she’s interested in CS. She has a 4.0 UW and 4.65 WGPA. She’ll also be taking 5 semesters of APs including AP CS. She would be dropping Spanish 5, which looks like it will be a disaster because of the teacher.

What do people think from an admissions perspective?

Thanks

I think it’s a good thing.

From my minimal exposure to Brown, there seems to me to be a strong culture and structure in place of undergrads guiding and mentoring each other.

Thanks @arwarw‌ for this and for your other informative posts on the Brown forum!

As long as she’s still taking a relatively competitive schedule her senior year, I think it’d be a great idea. Since she already has 4 years of foreign language, I see no reason for her to take Spanish 5 unless she really wanted to.
