Tailoring my college list... (part deux)

Hello again! Well, I posted a while back asking for advice with my list of schools, and I've made some adjustments and I'd like to see if anyone knows of some schools that I might like to look into based on my stats and what I'm looking at right now.

Here's a link to my stats (<a href="http://college.mychances.net/view/?id=128&app=college)%5B/url%5D">http://college.mychances.net/view/?id=128&app=college)</a>. I'm also taking seven classes that will give me AP/college credit this year (four are semester courses).

I like the small school / big city combo and I plan on majoring in BioE or Biochem so I would really like a school that has a good background in research. I'm pretty much paying the cost of my education on my own so I'm relying on need and merit aid a lot. However I'm willing to do things like co-op to decrease the amount of loans I take on.

Here's my list so far:
Rice University - Still my top choice by far - applying ID
Case Western - My newly discovered second choice
U Chicago - Love the city and the med programs
Michigan Ann Arbor
UT Austin
Wash U
UAB - (in state ultimate fallback... I really don't like the campus)

Does anyone know of any other schools I should look into? I would really like some more safeties that are smaller and in a good location (Michigan and UT are huge...)

For BME, Check out Duke and Columbia as well. both give ~22,000 fin. aid on average if available. Also, JHU is anothre great program. Sincce you have very competetive stats, you may as well apply to other top programs to increase your chances of admittance. Also, what are some non-academic things you are looking for in a school?

Safeties could include Lehigh and RIT, at both where you are certainly qualified to recieve merit aid.

I'd like there to be plenty of social life, but maybe not so much focus on the greek-side of social life. I enjoy sports (baseball in particular) and I've been in the marching band and heavily involved in music so I would really like to continue that in college in some way. Also, I'd like to go somewhere with a very diverse student body since part of the college experience for me is meeting lots of different kinds of people and being exposed to different ideas and ways of thinking.

Also when it comes to big city schools, I really don't want to feel like I'm in the middle of the city. I'd rather there still be that campus-feel to the university.

You should consider Tulane.
