“He has a shot at Stanford for his sports and good gpa. If he had 3.3 gpa he would still have a shot. If your good at sports like him, any college would want him. They want people who make them look better and sports is what they want. And his gpa is so high he has a great chance. Btw what’s national honors society?”

National Honors Society = organization for high-achieving high school students

and even if he did get a 2400 on the SAT and was very good at sports, unless you’re John Elway, there’s no way that you can get into Stanford with only a 3.3 GPA unless you have legacies or your parents donate a whole load of cash to the school.

Who cares I dont want to go to stanford and Pierre is right, unless im #1,2,3… in the country sports only count as an EC not a hook. Instead of arguing about that can someone give me some schools

First Gen I believe means first one in a direct family line GGParent to Gparent to Parent to You therefore I believe you would not qualify. To tell you the truth thats just what I thought it meant dont take my word as fact.

Look at Rutgers for a school in the NY/Pennsylvania area (NJ is basically a huge suburb of Philly and NYC lol). They have good programs in mechanical and aerospace engineering, a great rep as a University, is huge (Which u like, I don’t go for it but hey to each his own), good alumni base, good internship and research opportunities (Big research institution, close to Philly and NYC), D1 sports and intramural (RU Football in particular is getting better), and has a nice campus feel.

I’m currently going into my junior year as an aerospace major at Illinois and I’m from Cleveland as well. Your stats looked very similar to mine in terms of gpa and ECs. My test scores were a little higher at an ACT of 28 and SAT of 1810 and I was able to get into U of I without any problems. You went to a much smaller high school than I did, so I would hope that admissions won’t hold it against you that you dont have many honors or AP credits.

I’d say Illinois is a match for you, the aero program here has a very good reputation within the industry, but it is very challenging. Since youre out of state, you’ll be pumping out a good 38K plus a year for tuition/room and board. If money is an issue, OSU is your best bet since youre in state.

Purdue and OSU are safeties. UMich would be a reach, I was wait listed until June. I applied to those 4 schools, got into all of them except for UMich, choosing Illinois for me was easy.

oh, and for purdue, i think if you just send in your application by november 1st, you’ll hear a response back sometime in december (so it’s basically EA)

It’s rolling admission at Purdue and they have their applications out in like mid-August if I recall. If you have your SATs/ACTs done and finish the app like around September, you’d most likely hear back within a month. If you have fantastic grades and all, you may get accepted within a week. My friend had a 3.8 UW GPA and a 1340 on the SATs and got accepted in two days.
