Take Organic Chem at Worcester State?

Hey, so I am going to HC next year and I heard that Orgo is a really hard class and it is notorious for "weeding out" kids on the pre-med tract. I also read on HC's webpage that they use any grade that you receive at another school within the Worcester Consortium. So, I was wondering if anyone knew if it was easier to take organic chemistry at Worcester state or assumption college, or really any other school in the worcester consortium. That way, I can still maintain a high GPA and stay pre-med. Thank for all you help, and please don;t respond if you just plan on being rude. Thanks!

anyone???

It isn’t unheard of to take a class or two at a school within the Consortium, but it is usually done because Holy Cross does not offer that course in its own curriculum. There have been instances in which students will take a course like Organic Chem at Worcester State, but that is after you have a conversation with your pre-med advisor to determine where it’s best to take your course. After all, Organic Chem isn’t supposed to be easy, and Holy Cross professors and the advisors in the Pre-Health Advisory Program much prefer students to take all their courses at Holy Cross.

Most importantly, you will need to discuss it with your academic advisor and your Pre-Med advisor.

I’m in Orgo at HC now and can honestly say it isn’t the death wish that people say it is. It is not easy and requires a ton of studying, but is entirely possible. Plus if you are going to go to Med School you will have to deal with a lot tougher things than Orgo.

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I was only thinning that because if I decided to double major, I figured that taking the class over the summer would mean that I could have more time to learn and absorb the information and still enable me to hold a double major. (Possibly in Classics)
