Taking 18 college credits currently have all A's Can I step up to 25 a semester?

Good morning, I’m currently attending Community college with this semester being 18 college credits with all A’s is it possible to double down to 25 a semester?

My dual degree is Electrical Technologies PLCS and Mechatronics. Which I will also receive 4 certifications. I’ve been apart of the workforce for both industrial and naval electrician work for 7 years. So these concepts come easy to me because I’ve been doing it already. I’ve saved up enough where I don’t have to work and can purely focus on school.

Reason to complete college so early, it’s nothing more than a barrier in my way to my main goal. taking 25 credits per semester means college will be complete in 1 year vs 2 years. (this includes taking college at the summertime)

Go speak with your advisor about this. As you move into more advanced coursework, chances are that things will get tougher and/or more time consuming for you. Instead of ramping all the way up to 25 credits/term, you could try 20-21 for a term and see how things go.

Any pass/fail options?

I appreciate the input, and will speak with an advisor. For whatever reason that didn’t cross my mind.
That sounds reasonable progressive overload to see if I’m capable of handling 20-21 CC as well as I did with 18. If so then step up again or just maintain that level.
Thank you mate

I’m confused by any pass/fail options? as in electives with no real input to primary?

If you can take a class pass/fail it takes some stress off of trying to make an “A” and impacting your GPA. All you need to do is pass the class and you would get credits toward graduation. You may or may not be able to do this against your major but could be possible for electives.

You also need to look carefully at when the courses are offered, and if they must be taken in a particular sequence.

I’d recommend going to 21 credits first. Usually it proves the threshold not to go over, even for very efficient, motivated students.

Can you test out of any courses? If you are easily passing some required classes, you might get some credits through testing.

If you’re looking to apply and Transfer earlier to a four year school, be sure to check out the academic requirements at the target school(s), specifically when their application periods are open. Some schools have Fall-only admissions.

For example, if you were thinking about any of the UC schools, their window for application is the very narrow November 1-30, for the following Fall, requiring the completion of 60 semester units (or 90 quarter units) by the end of Spring semester (or quarter), without factoring in Summer classes.
Meaning that even if you completed your cc courses ahead of schedule, you still may not fit the eligibility requirements for Transfer admission at some schools.

If 18 is no problem then step it up to 25, you can always drop a class or two if its too much. I took 18 to 21 hours almost every semester in college with my degree being EECE. It really depends on the you and how comfortable you are with the work.

My D found 21-22 (and the extra 1 better be related to an EC or be PE) to be her max if she wanted to also have a life. And you have to be extremely organized. 24-25 can be done if you’re ok with not having a life outside of classes. I wouldn’t recommend it.
