well generallyrong,

Bio is more universal (not saying totally universal, because some people do have rocking teachers). Basically all classes have to get through the same exact 1000+ page book by the end of April.

Which PHysics are you taking? And I agree that Bio and Physics is too much!

vlines- I am taking AP Physics B. I also switched Biology with Chemistry.

For whatever it is worth, I would suggest waiting to take Physics until you’ve taken Chem and Calc.

CollegeBound, it’s anyone’s advice into consideration, as you can see, it differs dramatically. For example, an above poster said their AP english lang is like 3 hours a week. At our school, it is a minimum of 15 hours a week, and is easily the most time consuming class that is offered.

You need to make the decision for yourself! Do you want a life? :P

Don’t be scared off by the people who overestimate AP classes. Take all five, it looks great to colleges and isn’t as life consuming as it would appear.

I took my first four junior year, and while four is not five, I had no exposure to the AP program. I did less work than I probably should have, but pulled off all A’s 5,4,4,3 on the ap tests. Wasn’t too happy about the 3 and one of the 4s, but such is life. Too many people think that AP classes are an unbearable yoke that consumes life. The fact is that the college board doesn’t deserve that much credit, the courses are just a slight advancement on your previous studies.

Of course you shouldn’t let forum posters guide your life, but it is better to challenge yourself. You won’t be sacrificing your life for these classes.

It is a lot of AP courses. I’m a junior I’m taking AP US , AP English , Ap economics. I did Ap US goverment over the summer online so that I would only have to deal with three A.P courses. If ur dedicated u should be fine , however it will be hard.

5 is fine. At least, I’m doing 5.

I’m doing 4 (all self study).
I’m sure you will survive. AP isn’t that hard.

I’m taking 5 APs my junior year too, along with a few that I’m going to self-study. :)

Bump!!!

I would recommend against taking bio and physics, since they do not complement each other very well. Chem and physics as well as bio and Chem are great dual science AP courses, and I strongly recommend taking them both together.

I think you’ll be fine. I was supposed to also be in 5 APs junior year but decided to drop APUSH because I despise history courses and am pretty lazy when it comes to schoolwork. Mine are calc ab, CS, Psych, and Eng Lit. Honestly if you have a good work ethic I don’t see any reason why it would be a problem.

Honestly not bad at all.
I took AP Statistics, US history (considered the largest workload for any AP), Physics, and English Language, along with an advanced math class harder than Calc BC, and I had plenty of time. Also I came from 1 AP the year before. Senior year I’m going to take 8 exams, so I felt like I needed to fill in the gap anyway haha.
Just saying, if you’re smart, actually, if you can manage time well, you’ll be totally fine.

Definetly not 3 hours of notetaking in Bio more like 1

@CollegeBound

I’m taking 5 APs as a junior, too!
AP Calc AB
APUSH
AP Chem
AP Eng/Comp
AP Psych

I took AP Bio; I really had to work for those As. Calc seems easy, and so does English. I have hw every night in psych and history. I’ve heard mixed opinions about physics (I think it depends on where you are mathematically), but I heard economics is easy enough. I think you can manage the 5 APs if I can. Good luck! :)

I’m taking five this year as well:

AP Calc BC
AP Chem
AP Latin
AP Stats
APUSH

I think I’ll be fine, as long as I stay on top of APUSH.

Are we referring to AP Physics B or AP Physics C? AP Physics B is doable with your schedule; however, AP Physics C with a bad teacher = death

I’ve got 5 this year as well:

AP Calc BC
AP Stats
AP Bio
AP US History
AP English Lit

My other classes are Anatomy/Physiology, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble.

I’m doing fine so far, I took one AP exam (not the class, but it was World History) freshman year and two my sophomore year (Euro and Chem). I feel like I’m drowning in homework, but that’ll hopefully get better once marching band season ends and I actually have time in the evenings to work.

Just manage your time and you’ll be fine. The amount of work per course varies greatly from school to school - even from teacher to teacher - and I don’t think anyone can give you very accurate advice about the workload. Sure, you’ll have a lot of work, but if you feel that you can do it then go for it.
