I'm a senior this year and I'm homeschooled. I plan on taking a gap year after I graduate this year. I'm taking the SATs for the first time in November and I know my math score isn't going to be that good. (I really struggle in math)

I plan on taking a gap year because I want to volunteer, travel, get a job, and hopefully intern at a couple places to get an idea for a major.

So, my question is, should I try applying to schools now? There are a few schools that I'm looking at that I know I will have a difficult time getting into. I have a 3.85 gpa, I'm taking two college classes now, an AP class, and I have way more credits than required to graduate.
If I apply next year, and not this year, I have more time to raise my math score (I'd take the SATs again this spring and summer) and I plan on taking the ACTs too. I'd get teacher recommendations this year and I would also probably take some CC classes next year.

So is it a bad idea to not apply this year?

Thanks so much!
