@Columbia09 if I took it at the institution near my home, it would be ‘easier’ but that’s not why i’d do it. it’s because I would want to be home/near friends, so would that be ok? and @miamidap, what if I did research while taking the class? I’m not sure…

right now, I’m leaning towards taking the class at my school, suffering what would most likely be a weaker grade in the course, and just going home/doing research in the summer. although maybe I’ll do the research & take class at institution near home option if that won’t hurt me too much.

If that’s what you want to do, it’s fine. But as you may have seen there are many students who took one or two classes at a CC and still got into med school so who knows. I believe it is very possible to balance both ECs and two classes over the summer but it depends on the person. And everyone’s opinion will be different for example, I called the pre med office about a month ago and the adviser told me that it would be fine. I called again today and this adviser told me that it would be DETRIMENTAL to my app if I do so. However I told her my situation and she said it depends on the school you take it at, a good cc or a bad cc, and where you apply. Also when you ask an adviser there can be a biased towards the school you’re in. In other words they want you to take it at your school so that you can spend money. I don’t think most councilors will say take it at another school if there’s money there. My personal opinion is that they shouldn’t care as long as you do well and that you demonstrated that you can handle university courses. Good luck !
