I am going to take the SAT for the 4th time in December. Does taking the SAT so many times hurt you in the admission process? I scored 2100 (in 2008), 2100 (in 2009), and 2270 in October 2010. The 2270 was 800 math, 800 writing, but only 660 CR. If I can dramatically raise my CR reading score by like 80 points or more, will it help me or just be superfluous.

i can tell that you wont get an 800 math again
800+800+660 is not 2270

^LOL I’m sure he made a mistake when typing. Well, taking the SAT again couldn’t possibly hurt you right?

Well, when does the madness stop? Why not take it four more times? Eight more times?

Keep going until you get 9000

XD lol at 9000 . Isn’t your super score supposed to be awesome?

the super score is 2270, I got 670 on CR on one of the past tests. (I’m not that bad at math…)

At Yale’s info session, the person said that taking the SATs more than 4 times may seem like you don’t have a life.
I would say that 4 times would be the maximum.

I would even say that 4 times is too many.

I stopped at two with a shameful score. I’ve resigned to admitting that I’m awful at SAT. You have a fantastic score that will make your app competitive. Even if you get a higher score, it doesn’t mean that it’ll be a “hook” per se that’ll get you in.

Transcript and GPA are more important than SAT’s so i wouldn’t worry about it too much, but hey, it’s your life.

I know this is off topic but i just got a letter yesterday about my june Sat scores that college board released and i sent out to colleges and was accpeted into my top chocies and now there saying there looking over and investigating my test scores?! i only took twice and after the first time enrolled in an intensive class its almost nov now and i dont want the colleges to think im a cheat i didnt do anything wrong?

Well, why not just omit your lowest score? Even with colleges that ask that you send all scores, they can’t tell…check out Silverturtle’s guide regarding that

I would do that but my first scores wouldnt qualify me to get into my first choice by my second one would i dont get how they can do this after ive been accepted?

Lol dude dont take it a 4th time what more do you want. a 2270 is good enough for any college.

I have always heard that more than 3 times is too many

^Senior year dude, move on. Work on your apps. personally, aren’t you tired of standardized test scores? And it looks bad to the adcoms that you took the SAT so many times. A little obsessive? You don’t want your first impression on them to be, “Wow this kid took the SAT four times, another kid who thinks the SAT is everything…”
