Taking the SAT only once?

A 2340 stands out. There is no reason to take it again. He may score higher, but that will not help him in the admissions - unless there is a very wide vatiation between math and cr on his current score.

My son scored 2380 on SAT the first time, and 800s on all his subject matter tests, and had a 4.5 GPA…and still was turned down at Stanford.

I dont think its worth it to take the SAT again. I’d recommend spending that time on the essays. That’s where it will pay off given the SAT score he already has. (I suspect that where mine fell down…I dont think his essays were personal or revealing or compelling enough to individualize him–not his thing.)

Doesn’t look like OP has been back here ih a while…but ProudMomofS’s post could probably substitute.

Having read a lot about the Stanford Admissions process…even their own notes from Faculty assemblies…and knowing many current Stanford undergrads…I am confident these kids would have had the same result…with the exact same application materials…even with a 2400. As is shown many times on CC…if there is a 7 - 10% admit rate…there are going to be lots of extremely qualified applicants who will be rejected.

Darn, I got sucked into reading another old thread, but it made me curious where Jersey13 ended up. From his posts, it appears he only applied to ivies and Stanford, but never came back to post results. Hope there was a safety in there!

He probably was rejected at all of them, otherwise he would post as he promised in his last thread.
